从文化的角度看旅游资料的英译

Abstract

With the rapid development of Chinas tourism, more and more tourist materials have been translated into English. But some English versions of travel guide are poorly done. Since the travel guide is used as the instrument of propaganda, the quality of its translation determines the effect of propagating on the outside world directly. This paper discusses the relationship between culture and translation, analyses the differences between Chinese and Western cultures, and explores the two principles in travel guide translation: 1) the Chinese culture-oriented principle, 2) the principle of emphasis on the version. In the course of translation, the techniques such as amplification, explanation, analogy, reduction and adjustment as well as recreation can be applied. Doing so, the translators can act as ambassadors to transmit the culture to the foreign travelers successfully.

随着中国旅游业的迅猛发展,越来越多的旅游资料被译成英文,但有些旅游资料的翻译不如人意。旅游资料作为1种对外宣传的资料,其翻译的.优劣直接影响着对外宣传的效果。在讨论文化与翻译的关系和分析中西文化差异的基础上,本文讨论了旅游资料英译应遵循的原则:1)以中国文化以取向; 2)以译文为重点;探讨了在具体的翻译实践中可运用增补,释义,类比,删减和重组以及再创造等方法来缩小文化差异,从而成功的进行文化交流。
